David Wayne Nuckols

David Wayne Nuckols, 53, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 from injuries suffered in a bicycling accident. Born August 7, 1954 in Daviess County, Mr. Nuckols was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church and was quality control manager for Titan Contracting and Leasing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cycling; was on the Ohio County Vocational Board; and was a member of the Yellow Banks Lodge #957 F&AM. David served on several committees at the Owensboro Community and Technical College; served as a judge for VICA welding competition from 1995-2001; served on the Welding Advisory Committee from 1995 to the present as well as the OCTC Advisory Council and the OCTC Foundation; represented Titan which was the OCTC recipient of the KCTSC Benefactor of the Year Award in 2000; and was instrumental in establishing the Advisory Committee's Welding Scholarship Fund. A 1972 graduate of Daviess County High, he was on the 1971 State Championship Baseball team and attended Western Kentucky and Brescia University. Mr. Nuckols was preceded in death by his father G.T. Nuckols, Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Kathi Sledge Nuckols; sons, David Wayne Nuckols, II of Bowling Green and Lee Allen Nuckols of Owensboro; his mother, Dorothy Nuckols of Owensboro; sisters, Lynda ( Jerry) Rhodes of Owensboro and Judy (Jim) Powell of Maceo; a brother, Bob (Donna) Lawson of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 2 P.M. Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Warren Haughton and Dr. James Wedding officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Friday and after 12 noon on Saturday. Masonic services will be 7 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
