David G. Moredock, 79, of Philpot passed away Tuesday, August 15, under the care of Heartford House/Hospice of Western Kentucky. Mr. Moredock was born July 6, 1938 and raised in Daviess County by the late Finley and Olive Fenwick Moredock. He was employed for over 30 years at what is now Glenmore Distillery, where he spent the last 15 years before retirement as Quality Control Manager involved in all aspects of the distillery business, from glass making to imported materials. David was an active member and past president of ORPCI (Owensboro Rifle and Pistol Club, Inc). He was an accomplished competitor in several sport shooting disciplines including Bullseye Pistol, Rimfire and Benchrest Rifle, USPSA Pistol, Multi Gun and F Class Precision Rifle. He was a skilled machinist and woodworker, building flamenco guitars as well as custom competition firearms, and a gunsmith whose skills were prized by many in our region. David was also a motorcycle and sportscar enthusiast and an amateur racer in SCCA II. Mr. Moredock raced first a Miata, a Cobra Kit car with a revamped Mustang engine, and a Honda 2000, and his final "steed" was a supercharged Miata.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Ann Brumley Moredock, daughter, Jayne Jones and husband David of Owensboro; daughter, Janet Moredock and husband Jim Bennett of Indianapolis; son, John Moredock and wife Susan Mittleman of Atlanta; grandchildren, David and Michael Norris and Leo and Julian Banks; cousins, Clarence Fenwick and Gayle Lauderdale; several nieces and many friends.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with a memorial service at 5:00 PM.
