David O. Mayfield, 72, of 2621 Concord Terrace, Owensboro, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2008, at his home. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Francis and Lillian Smith Mayfield. He was the former owner and operator of the Continental Insulation Co. and was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and he enjoyed U. K. basketball, raising a vegetable garden, and watching Nascar. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Mayfield, Terry Mayfield, and Barry Mayfield.
Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Vena Mayfield, a son, Brian Mayfield of Owensboro, a daughter, Kelly Mayfield of Owensboro, two sisters, Sharon Logsdon of Owensboro and Sue Wedding of Maceo, and two brothers, Harold Mayfield and Lawes Mayfield, both of Utica.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 12, at St. Stephen Cathedral. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 8:30 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be 6:00 P.M.Wednesday at the funeral home.
