David Lee Jones

March 11, 1936 — June 26, 2014

David Lee Jones, 78, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, June 26th at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, surrounded by family.

He was born in Owensboro and served in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

David was a retired civil engineer and had been associated with Johnson-Depp & Quisenberry, Daniel Construction Co., and Commonwealth Electric of Minnesota. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church.

David was a world-traveler, avid golfer, a UK fan; and he loved piddling on his farm. Most of all, he was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Ruth Boehman and Betty Craig; and brothers, Eugene and Jim Jones.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Natalie Vance Jones; his children, Steve (Carrie) Jones of Brentwood, TN, Scott Jones of Phoenix, AZ, Kim Jones of Owensboro, Kelly (James) Robbins of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Dustin (Amy) Staves of Owensboro, Brandon Staves (Fiance, Chassidy) of Bowling Green, KY, Michael Bittel, Morgan Jones, Natalyn Jones of Brentwood, TN, April (Jeremy) Kemplin of Owensboro; great-grandchildren, Gracie and Will Kemplin; and a sister, Nancy Correll of Burlington, KY.

The funeral mass will be on Monday, June 30 at 11 AM at Immaculate Catholic Church. Fr. Tony Jones will officiate and burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sorgho.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-5 PM with prayers at 4pm and on Monday after 9 AM at Glenn Funeral home and Crematory.
