David James Gaddis, 73, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born in Bedford, England to the late John David and Kathleen Egglestone Gaddis.
David was retired from OMU where he had served as a power plant operator. He was also a self-employed concrete contractor. David was a member St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and the Tri-State Jeepers. He thoroughly enjoyed four wheeling and Jeep trips, NASCAR, motorcycle trips and horse shows. David was a very generous person and was honored by the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center for his faithful and significant donations. He was a good man, husband, father and "Papa" who was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Mr. Gaddis is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frances Marie Goetz Gaddis; a daughter, Sherry Marie Krampe and her husband, Keith; a son, Joseph Michael "Jody" Gaddis and his wife, Trishia; grandchildren, Michael Dylan Gaddis, Christopher, Allison and Natalie Krampe, all of Owensboro.
The funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 17 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Fr. Shaiju Thomas, Fr. Mark Buckner and Fr. Richard Powers will officiate. Visitation on Friday will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM, with prayers at 6:30 PM, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation on Saturday will be from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
