Darwin Lee Jones

Darwin Lee Jones,73, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, May 08, 2013 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. He was born in Owensville, Indiana to the late Orris D. and Mary E. (Coleman) Jones and preceded in death by a sister, Betty J. Stormont.

After more than 40 years of service Darwin retired from CSX Railroad where he was a supervisor. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Darwin was an excellent mechanic and was very good with computers before most people ever had one. He was also an avid fisherman. Darwin will be missed by many.

Darwin is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia (Howard) Jones; daughters, Denise Campbell (Jeff) and April Pirtle (Tim); a son, Kevin Kanable (Lisa), all of Owensboro; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including Eugene Stormont; and a brother, Rollan Jones of South Dakota.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 AM until 1:30 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 11 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Sorgho. Rev. Kenneth Stone will officiate. A private burial service will be held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
