Darrell W. Lloyd

Darrell W. Lloyd, 54, of 2700 St. Rt. 144 East, Hawesville, passed away on Friday July 31, 2009 at his home. He was born Oct. 23, 1954 in Daviess Co., Ky. He is retired from the Owensboro Riverport Authority after 20 years and was a United States Marine Corps veteran. He loved the outdoors and would take his grandsons fishing and deer and turkey hunting. He also loved working on his Massey-Ferguson tractor, camping at Windy Hollow, and spending time with all his family. He also delivered the Messenger-Inquirer newspaper in the Livermore-Utica area for about 10 years. He was preceded in death by his father William Edward Lloyd, his stepfather, Kenny Colwell, and his grandmothers, Sue Estes and Hazel Lloyd.

Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Kathy Lloyd, his mother Barbara Colwell of Owensboro, daughters, Holly Smiley and husband Bruce of Maceo and Crystal Lloyd of Hawesville, a son, Eric Lloyd of Owensboro, six grandchildren, Kirsten Smiley, Brittany Hall, Tyler Smiley, Jacob Lloyd, Jordan Lloyd, and Lukas Hall, six brothers and sisters, Debbie Lloyd, Sharon Lloyd, Bonnie Kays and husband Ralph, Donna Isaac and husband Tony, Delbert Howard, and Terry Howard, all of Owensboro, and a family friend, Jeff Brooks of Lewisport.

Services will be 12 Noon Tuesday, August 4, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Kelly Cemetery at Maceo. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
