Darlene Williams Snyder

Darlene Williams Snyder, 71, of Owensboro went peacefully to her heavenly home Saturday, November 18, 2023 under the care of Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born March 28, 1952 to the late Elzie and Lucille Williams.

Darlene spent twenty-five years as a school bus driver for Daviess County Public Schools where she earned the 1993 “Bus Driver of the Year” award for the state of Kentucky. More recently she served as an assistant teacher for Audubon Area Early Head Start where she loved her “babies” and co-workers. As a young lady, Darlene attended Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute. She was a long-time member of the Wesleyan Christian Center. Darlene loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her cooking was appreciated by many and her family pretty well required all functions include her “World’s Best” potato salad. She loved going out to eat on Fridays with the “Golden Girls,” yearly “Girls Trip” with her sister and cousins, and shopping for a bargain. Darlene was a sweet, loving and kind woman to anyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her husband and sweetheart of thirty-nine years, Glen Snyder, in 2012. Darlene particularly treasured memories of their time together and is surely happy to be reunited with him. She was also preceded by her sister, Elaine Thompson, and brothers, Roger and David Williams.

Darlene is survived by sons, Brian (Stephanie) Snyder of Owensboro, Jeff (Melissa) Snyder of Johnson City, TN, and Joey (Kelly) Snyder of Owensboro; grandchildren, Austin Brown, Aly Riley (Alex), Garrett Snyder, Noah Snyder (AnnaMarie), Gavin Snyder, Grace Snyder, Ezra Snyder, Jonah Snyder, Maverick Snyder, Emmett Snyder and Ruby Snyder; great-grandchildren, Luna Lee and Roman Snyder; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, November 22 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM and Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
