Danny Ray Stringer, 82, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025 under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born in Daviess County to the late Wilton and Zelda Bivens Stringer.
Danny was a U.S. Navy Veteran. During the Vietnam War he searched for submarines and learned to be an electrician. He continued that trade at National Southwire Aluminum where he retired after more than 40 years of service.
Danny was a devout Christian and long-time member of the former Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. In recent years he belonged to Woodlawn United Methodist Church. Mr. Stringer was a member of VFW Post #696, Amvets #119 and the American Legion Post #9. As an outdoorsman, he belonged to the Sierra Club and treasured a variety of activity, especially hiking, animal watching and simply observing nature.
He also traveled extensively in the U.S. and internationally, including trips to China, Russia and Brazil. He enjoyed reading and history and acquired a nice variety of unique souvenirs while traveling.
Danny created many special memories with his daughter, Danielle, as a proud single dad. He was a good listener and loved to spend time with family, especially his grandsons, Carson and Luke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by siblings, Marcella Frantz and Jim Stringer.
Mr. Stringer is survived by his daughter, Danielle Lowe (Steve) of Evansville; grandchildren, Carson and Luke Lowe; a sister, Joyce C. Hulsey of Owensboro; and former step-children, Galadrea Vanover and Myron Stringer.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 19 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 until 4:00 PM and Sunday from Noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
