Danny Gene Glover, 80, of Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away on March 11, 2026. He was born on September 1, 1945, to the late Melvin Glover Jr. and Dorothy (Roach) Houtchen.
Danny proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a “Jack-in-the-Dust” aboard the USS Cochran from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Danny worked as a member of Laborers’ Local Union #1393, where he dedicated 21 years before retiring.
Danny was known as a man who seemed to know a little about everything and never met a stranger. He had a deep love for the outdoors and nature, especially deer hunting, bird hunting and bird watching, and ginseng hunting. He always made sure the birds and squirrels around his home were well fed, and he enjoyed visiting Waymond Morris Park, where he had a special fondness for a crane he considered his little buddy. Danny was also very knowledgeable about Indian artifacts, gardening, and cooking, and he always enjoyed a good debate about politics.
Most of all, Danny loved fishing. He was an avid fisherman and was known by many as one of the best around. He knew all the ins and outs of fishing and was the person many turned to when they needed skipjack bait for fishing tournaments.
Danny loved his family deeply and was especially proud of his children and grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
Danny will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His stories, laughter, and love for the outdoors will live on in the memories of everyone who knew him. We honor his life, his service to his country, and the many memories he leaves behind with those who loved him.
Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Glover; his infant Siamese twin sisters, Connie and Bonnie Glover; his stepdaughter, Tina Dozer; and his stepson, Danny Vick.
He is survived by his two sons, Robert Glover and Gerald Glover; and his daughter, Cheryl Glover (Kevin Goins). He is also survived by his stepson, Richard Harper, and his stepdaughters, Regina Mitchell and Carmen Gilbert. He leaves behind his brother, Michael (Stephanie) Houtchen, as well as many grandchildren: Emma Taylor (Bruce), Zachary Glover, Colbi Glover, Courtney Glover, Michelle Glover, Lucas and Trevas Mitchell, Kasey and Tyler Harper, Ian Dozer, Keleigh and Hannah, Ricky Harper, T.J. Boone, and Danielle Nesmith. Danny is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 16 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 until 5:00 PM and Monday from 1:00 until the time of service. Burial will follow at Glover Cemetery in Yelvington.
Memorial contributions may be made to Daviess County Parks and Recreation, Government Operations Center, 2620 Ky Hwy 81, Owensboro, KY 42301
