Daniel Lee Simmons

Daniel Lee Simmons, 71, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.  He was born August 27, 1952 in Daviess County to the late Huston and Catherine Ebelhar Simmons.  Daniel was of the Catholic faith and retired as a truck driver with Clark Distributing Co.  He was a great father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family especially his grandson Ayden.  Daniel was a very kind-hearted and sweet person.  He enjoyed classic cars, going to car shows, and watching car shows on television.  He also enjoyed playing pool and going to his daughter’s for frequent visits.  Daniel was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Simmons, a brother-in-law, Gene Gordon, and three nieces, Ashly Crisp, Macy Simmons, and Bailey Thompson.

 Surviving are his children, Christie Renner and husband Chris   of Danville and Brian Simmons of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Ayden Collins and Landon Renner, both of Danville; five sisters, Ann Gordon, Tricia Watkins (Danny) , and Cathy Maddox, all of Owensboro, Faye Gardener of Louisville, and Delores Smith (Greg) of Utica and five brothers, Joe Simmons (Jerri Roberts) and Bob Simmons, all of Owensboro, Tom Simmons (Nan) of Knottsville, Jerry Simmons (Nancy) of West Louisville, and David Simmons (Connie) of Morganfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 Funeral services for Daniel will be 2 PM Saturday, April 20, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.  Visitation will be from Noon until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
