Daniel K. Shumaker, aged 60, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on July 16, 1964, in Ackerman, MS, he was the son of the late Theodis and Luvina Shumaker. A distinguished U.S. Marine, Daniel dedicated thirteen years of service to his country, during which he acquired exceptional skills in welding. During his time in the Marines, he met his future wife, Alison. They married on November 15, 1985, in Okinawa, Japan, and raised four children together.
Daniel was known for his extensive trivia knowledge and his passion for movies. Still, his legacy will be built on his unwavering work ethic and commitment to completing tasks with excellence. For over thirty years, he practiced his craft as a welder, playing a significant role in developing transportation systems for the U.S. Navy and casinos along the Gulf of Mexico. He also genuinely loved music, travel, and community service.
He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Daneshia Shumaker; his granddaughter, Danarcia; and his brother, Darryl Shumaker.
Daniel is survived by his devoted wife, Alison; his children, Danessa, DaTonya (with fiancé Jeromy Armstrong), and Daniel Shumaker II; his grandchildren, CaMaya, Lashayla, Grace, and Brooklyn; and his brothers, Bobby and Gerald Shumaker.
Visitation will be held at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory on Monday, November 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
