Daniel Grant Fleming, 49, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville after a hard faught battle. He was born on November 8, 1961 in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Daniel Patrick Fleming and Anna Mae Heflin Fleming.

Dan was presently employed as a Project Consultant for Patterson & Dewar Engineers, Inc. in Atlanta, GA and was previously employed at Owensboro Municipal Utilities. He had earned his Masters of Science degree from the University of Nevada specializing in statistical methods and economic theory. He received his Bachelors of Science degree from Western Kentucky University majoring in biology with a minor in Chemistry and Economics. Dan had over 20 years of experience working with utilities in a variety of roles, including 10 years with East Kentucky Power Cooperative in Winchester, KY.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, horses, and hanging out at the farm in Philpot, KY. He spent much of his time watching his daughters participate in soccer and basketball. He was an avid sports fan and especially followed the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

Dan was of the Baptist faith and had attended Centertown Baptist Church and Masonville Baptist Church during his youth. He presently had been attending St. Pius X Catholic Church with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Tonya Payne Fleming, two daughters, Danielle Fleming and fianc Jacob Kittinger and Emily Fleming, all of Owensboro, a brother, Brad Humphrey and his wife Kay Stone Humphrey and their sons, Jason and Jordan , all of Huntley, IL, his in-laws, Tony and Theresa Payne of Owensboro, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tim and Olga Payne of Owensboro, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous dear friends.

Services will be 12 Noon Thursday, January 6, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions be made to the Daniel Fleming Memorial Fund to help with Dan's daughter's, Danielle and Emily educational needs. Contributions may be made to First Security Bank, 300 Frederica St., Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
