Dana T. Tichenor

Dana T. Tichenor, 69, of Owensboro, has gone to be with her savior. She was born in Owensboro to the late Byron F. and Naomi Maddox Tichenor.

Dana was a retired Chapter 1/Title 1 Remedial Math and Reading Teacher. Most of her career was spent in Ohio County Schools where she taught at nearly every elementary school. In her early years Mrs. Tichenor also taught at Van Voorhis Elementary School in Fort Knox, KY. She came from four generations of school teachers and had a special way of bonding with her students. Many of her students have maintained contact with her through the years because of her impact on their lives. Following retirement from teaching in 1994, Dana served as Activities Director at Wellington Parc of Owensboro until her second retirement in 2012.

She attended Christ Community Church where she sang in the choir. Dana was a gifted and trained musician who particularly enjoyed playing the piano, organ, bells and flute. Her family had a history in the flower business and she carried on that interest with her love of flowers.

In addition to her parents, Dana was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Anne Henderson.

Dana is survived by her children, George Henderson (Maureen), Walter Henderson (Teresa), Samuel Henderson (Toni), Alicia Pesterfield (Les) and Frank Henderson (Molly); grandchildren, Debbie, Brandy, Crystal, Amanda, Ciara, Karalyn, Sam Jr., Jordan, Cym, Joshua, and Chandler; and many great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be 2 PM Saturday, January 21 with visitation after 11 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
