Daisy Frankie Hughes Chambless, 81, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Wellington Parc Nursing and Rehabilitation. The Simsboro, Louisiana native was born August 22, 1944, to the late Benjamin Franklin Hughes and Beulah Adeline Earnest Hughes. Daisy loved her family dearly. She was a kind soul who was strong in her faith. Before her dementia, Daisy had many activities and hobbies she enjoyed, such as sewing, embroidery, painting, sketching, gardening, travels to the Gulf, cooking, puzzle books, her TV shows, all sorts of music especially gospel, and talking on the phone with her family. Being a perfectionist, Daisy was a very creative and crafty person and was self-taught in many of her hobbies and interests.
In addition to her parents, Daisy was also preceded in death by her siblings, Beulah (Sadie) Dugdale, Jessie Aaron, Velmer Hughes, Dorothy Morris, Ben Hughes, Maudie McDaniel, Willie B. Hughes, and her loving companion of 34 years, Ted Jureczko.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Brenda (Kris) Robinson of Calhoun and Donna (Wes) Nugent of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Sarah (Brandon) Abel, Michael (Mandie) Towery, Seth Robinson, Ryan Robinson, Chris Nugent, all of Kentucky and Meggan Nugent of Michigan; sister, Virginia (Willie) Cripps of Jena Louisiana; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
