Daisy L. Carroll

Daisy "Dixie" Carroll of Owensboro went home to the Lord on Sunday, December 16th, 2007 from Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was born on October 3, 1918, in Breckenridge County, one of seven children of the late Harvey and Elodie Raymer Smith. A member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church, Dixie had worked at the Wendell Foster Center, the former Leisure Years Nursing Home, and at several restaurants as a waitress with a wonderful loving personality who loved serving the public. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Carroll, her brothers, James Harvey Smith, W.P. Smith, and Frank Smith, and her sisters, Lena Bell, Ella Bruner, and Lillian Mayfield.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Carroll and his wife Elizabeth, of Owensboro, her daughter, Jewell Guthrie and her husband Chuck of Hendersonville, TN, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, where friends may visit with the Carroll family beginning at 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Cates Cemetery in Whitesville. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Wendell Foster Center.
