Curtis Jostine Moss, 76, of Owensboro, formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at his home after battling lung cancer. He was born in Echols, Kentucky to the late Ben and Marie Givens Moss.
Curtis was a retired and disabled veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served two tours in Vietnam and earned the Vietnam Service and Campaign, National Defense and Sharp Shooter M-16 Rifle Medals. Curtis was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel and a member of the VFW and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed reading, fishing, watching tennis and feeding birds.
Curtis was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Moss; his parents, Ben and Marie Moss; sisters, Marie, Kate, Elnora, Savannah and Belle; and brothers, Johnnie, Joe, Wilbert, R.D., John, Esther, Scott, John and Delmis Moss.
He is survived by a daughter, Denise Ashby and her husband Jody of Owensboro; a son, Curtis Moss, Jr. and his wife Kim of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren, Brandi, Jarell, Cetece, C.J., Ciara, Ethan, Zoe, Camden and Ryder; great-grandchildren, Zamien and Lucian, whose birth is expected in a few weeks; and sisters, Essie, Clara and Mary.
The funeral service will be at 2 PM Sunday, September 18 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Saturday from 2 until 6 PM and Sunday after 1 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
