Colleen D. Barnes

Armilda Colleen Barnes , 87, of Owensboro, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Owensboro Center Nursing Care. Colleen was born September 7, 1925 to the late Jody and Nina Duvall. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, and a retired teacher from the Owensboro School System after 27 years, where she taught first and fourth grades, and was a member of Settle United Methodist Church.
Her husband of 47 years, Alco Barnes, and her best friend, Ann Johnson also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, Lyman (Joyce) Barnes, sister-in-law, Zexia (Jerry) Bishop, a godson, David Johnson of Lexington, KY, several nieces and cousins, and a special friend, Kathy Shouse of Owensboro.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory , followed by a graveside service in the chapel at Rosehill Cemetery at 11 a.m. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.
