Clyde Gibson Coble

Clyde G. Coble, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at his home. He was born in East Chicago, IN to the late Iden and Lenore Powell Coble. He was retired from C.S.X. Railroad after 50 years as a locomotive engineer. He also had worked as a U. S. Government Grain Inspector. Clyde lived for many years in Hammond, IN before moving to Owensboro in 1992. He was raised in the Christian church and had been attending services at the Salvation Army here in Owensboro. Clyde had been a full-time volunteer for the Salvation Army for five years and also some other organizations. He enjoyed helping others. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, was a Shriner and a Knights Templar. He also was a member of the Eugene V. Debs Foundation in Terre Haute and had held offices in the local, national, and international Unions of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Clyde was also preceded in death by a son, David Thornton Coble in 1951 and a sister, Audrey Coble Bennett in 2011.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Ruth A. Coble, a son, Clyde Steven Coble and wife Becky of Owensboro, two grandchildren, David Coble and wife Allison of Elgin, S.C. and Kathleen Wilken and husband Scott of Avondale, AZ, and two great grandchildren, William and Elizabeth Coble of Elgin.

Graveside services and burial will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 14, at Idaville Cemetery in Idaville, IN.
