Clifton Tooley, 89, of 826 E. 21st. St., Owensboro, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2005 at Hermitage Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Monroe Co., Ky. to the late Clyde & Laura Jane Walden Tooley. He was retired after 29 years as a traffic manager for Modern Welding Co. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the Owensboro Masonic Lodge #130 and enjoyed woodworking. He was a Ky. Colonel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Tooley on Nov. 17, 1996.
Surviving are two sons, Brigadier General Clifton Tooley, Jr. and his wife Connie of Indianapolis, In. and Perry Tooley of Owensboro, two daughters, Gayle & her husband Sam Smith of Versailles, Ky. and Ann & her husband Andy Simpson of Owensboro, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and two sisters Phyllis Maxine Klinesteker of Holland, Mi., and Odella Melby of Indianapolis, In.
Services will be at 11:30 A.M. Monday, December 12, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday and after 9:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellevue Baptist Church Building Fund, 519 W. Byers Ave., Owensboro, Ky. 42303.
