Clifton Ray Sumner, 63, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016 at his home. He was born August 16, 1953 in Daviess Co. to the late Lawrence and Dorothy Magaline Edwards Sumner. He had been employed at A.E.P. Power Plant in Rockport, IN and also had worked at Hagerman Plumbing and Heating. Clifton had coached both youth baseball and basketball and enjoyed golf, playing cards, fishing, and hunting. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Sumner, Jr. and a sister, Pat Ervin.
Surviving are his wife Karen Sumner, his children, Ray (Christy) Sumner and Danny Crabtree of Hancock Co., Jamey (Rhonda) Sumner of Philpot, Candida Drury and Brandi (Matt) Fetcher of Owensboro, Nicole Hinton of Tell City, IN, and Renae (Brett) Thompson of Cannelton, IN, grandchildren, Jordan and Blake Sumner and Lawson and Jenna, all of Hancock Co., R. W. Warner and Brittani(Rich) Haney of Philpot, Taelor Hinton, Zachary Fetcher and Jackson Holeman, all of Owensboro, Davin Lawrence and Cole Gentry, both of Tell City, Alyvia, Arieonna, and Ansley Thompson, all of Cannelton, and Mackenzie and Austin, both of Owensboro, a great grandchild, Mason of Owensboro, his sisters, Lydia (Dan) Griffin, Brenda Shock, Nettie Mae Sumner, and Josephine (Marshall) Cockrell, all of Owensboro, his brothers, William (Joann) Sumner and Claudie (Ellen) Sumner of Owensboro, and Jerry (Doris) Sumner of Whitesville, his mother and father-in-law, Betty and Bill Lain of Tell City, brothers-in-law, Billy (Linda) Lain and Jerry Lain, and a sister-in-law, Terri (Fred) Polk, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 6:00 P.M. Thursday, September 15 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 3:30 until 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
