Clifford Brandon

Clifford Greyson Brandon Jr. 73, of Owensboro, died May 9, 2015 in the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky after a five year battle with Lewy Body disease. Cliff was born May 10, 1941 to the late Clifford Sr. and Eileen Hayden Brandon.

Cliff was an active member of Immaculate Catholic Church, where he served on the Parish Council.

Cliff graduated from Brescia University in Owensboro, where he served on numerous committees, and was an officer of the Alumni Association. He twice received the Outstanding Alumni Award.

Cliff spent 24 years in the hospitality industry. He then served the Owensboro Fire Department as Captain and Arson Investigator until his retirement.

He was a strong advocate of the St. Joseph Peace Mission, where he served on the Board of Directors until his passing.

Cliff is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Judy Rueff Brandon, children, Kelly Brandon of Nashville, Carrie Elliot (Cameron) of Washington, D.C., Clifford Brandon III (Wendi) of Maceo, Kasey Nelson ( Ben) of Nolensville, TN., and Karen Brandon of Nashville; grandchildren, Shelby, Landon, Carter, and Amrita Nelson, Eileen and Max Brandon, and Brandon and Hayden Elliot; siblings, Margaret Ann Merjavy, Tommy Brandon, Betty Legeay, Bobby Brandon, and Marilyn Turner. He is also survived by many friends who share his special sense of humor and his gentle spirit.

Cliff loved his family and his friends. He enjoyed cooking, golfing, UK Basketball, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He was known for his lemon-buttered chicken and his beautiful watermelon baskets, which he shared often with his friends.

Service will be at 10:30am Thursday May 14, 2015 at Immaculate Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 until 10:00 on Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with prayers at 6:30 p.m.
