Claude E. Peay

Claude E. Peay, 87, of Owensboro died Friday June 1, 2001 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. Born October 1, 1913 in Butler County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Lonnie A. Peay and Hazel Pearl Pendley Peay. Mr. Peay was preceded in death by a daughter, Hazel Peay in 1936.

Mr. Peay retired from farming with Kuegel Brothers Farms. He was a member of Rushing Wind Church of God in Owensboro. He loved farming, fishing, playing horse shoes and washers. He also loved playing the guitar and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Frances Wallace Peay; two sons, Claude Randall Peay, William Ray Peay both of West Louisville, KY; four daughers, Mary Frances Kellems, Carolyn Kaye Dillon, Pamela Faye Keller, and Norma Jean Outlaw all of Owensboro; 26 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eva Mae Evy Birkett of Evansville.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday June 3, 2001 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Brother Joe Hagan and Brother Larry Bidwell. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends at Glenn Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday June 2, 2001 and after 12:00 p.m. Sunday.
