Claude Blandford Newman

Claude Newman, Sr., 82, of 6001 Ware Road, Philpot, died Monday, May 2, 2005 at his home. A son of the late John Franklin Newman and Hellen Blandford Newman, the Daviess County native, was active in farming, owning and operating with his sons Sunny View Farms Dairy and Sunny View Farms in Daviess and Ohio Counties. Mr. Newman was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church, the Daviess County Farm Bureau, and the Daviess County Lion's Club. He had served on the Daviess County Democrat Executive Committee and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was active in Dairyman associations as a state and regional director and as past resident of the State Dairy Council. He was a Kentucky Colonel, received the Service to Agriculture Citation from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and was named an Honorary Commissioner of Agriculture.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rebecca Kuegel Newman, his sons, Claude B. (Anita) Newman of Philpot and Mike (Marsha) Newman of Beaver Dam, his grandchildren, Carrie (Donnie) Newman Manse, Molly (Gavin) Newman Roberts, Claude B (Heather) Newman, III, Melissa (Richard) Newman Reynolds, and Mike (Kelly) Newman, Jr., five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and his sisters, Anna Newman Bivins of Owensboro, and Amy Newman McNamara of New Albany.

The funeral service is at 11:00 p.m. Thursday at Bethabara Baptist Church. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and at Bethabara Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday.
