Claude W. Chew

Claude W. Chew, Jr., 65 of Owensboro, left our world on Father's Day, June 21, 2009 to be with his Heavenly Father and to know, walk, and talk with him. He was born April 19, 1944 in Daviess Co., Ky. and was retired after 25 years with W. R. Grace Co. as a lab technician. He also had been an agent with the Colonial Life Insurance Co. and A.F.L.A.C. and had volunteered in the past as Sports Information Director for Owensboro High School. He was a Ky. Colonel. He loved his wife Rita and always treated her with respect and love. He wanted only the best for her and treated her like a Princess. He also loved all his family and enjoyed being with them whenever possible. He was truly a good man with a loving heart. He was a wonderful son to Geneva and a good brother to Kim. He loved life and loved to laugh. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude W. Chew on June 11, 1989.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Rita Henderson Chew, two sons, Kevin Akers and wife Jackie of Franklin, TN and Keith Chew and wife Valerie of Owensboro, his mother Catherine Geneva Chew of Owensboro, a grandson Kole Akers and a step grandson Alex Mitchell, his sister, Kim C. Nation and husband David of Owensboro, a nephew Grant Nation of Owensboro, a niece Amy Parker Cuenca of Louisville, a great niece Grace Isabel Cuenca, and numerous cousins and an aunt, Carrie Ada Anderson of Evansville.

Services will be 12 Noon Wednesday, June 24 at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1302 Frederica St., Owensboro, Ky. 42301 or to Hospice of Western Ky., 723 Harvard Dr., Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
