Claribel Onstott Basham

Claribel Onstott Basham, 87, of Harborside Healthcare, Owensboro, formerly of 2411 Sullivan Ct., passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Harborside. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Everett Leslie and Lucy Gipe Bristow Onstott. She was a homemaker and member of Friendship Baptist Church. She graduated from Daviess Co. High School in 1940, loved going to the Elizabeth Munday Senior Center, and listening to Bluegrass and Gospel music. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. T. Basham on August 26, 1996 and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Basham in 2005.

Surviving are four sons, Jay T. Basham, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S. C., Forrest Wayne Basham and wife Joyce, George Basham and wife Sarah, and Leslie Basham and wife Sheila, all of Owensboro, three daughters, Hazel Mae Givens and husband Clarence B. of Pleasant Ridge, Nancy Carrol Martin and husband Earl of Owensboro, and Lucy Etta Huff and husband Mickey of Morgantown, 16 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a brother, Oba Gilbert Onstott of Philpot, and a sister, Dorothy Swim and husband Dessna of Evansville, In.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 15 at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
