Clarence Wilcox

Clarence "Tom" Wilcox, 90, of Owensboro, formerly of Central City, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at his home. He was born November 13, 1919, to the late Robert and Hattie Ola Riggs Wilcox in McLean County. He was a deacon, and Sunday school teacher of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, served proudly with the Big Red One in WWII, and retired from the American Tobacco Company. He enjoyed boating, camping, gardening and working in the church. He was lovingly called "Bokie" by his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Wilcox in 2006, 3 brothers, Shelby, Louis, and Harold, and 3 sisters, Hazel Wilcox, Mildred Nelson, and Vivian Ellis.

Survivors include his son, Tom Wilcox and his wife, Kathryn of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, 3 granddaughters, Ginger Leigh Schnepp and her husband, Capt. Marcus Schnepp of Owensboro, Meredith Michelle Gabbert and her husband, Zachary Gabbert of Owensboro, and Lindsay Marie Sheffield of Atlanta, GA; 4 great-granddaughters, Chelsea Ann McKinnon, Gracen Reece Gabbert, Emilee Shane Gabbert, and Ansley Elizabeth Gabbert, and 1 great-grandson, Carter Lee Gabbert; a sister-in-law, Lottie Wilcox of Centerville, OH

Services will be 12:00 PM Friday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, and after 10:00 AM Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, 1225 West 3rd Street, Owensboro, KY 42301 or Hospice of Western Kentucky 3419 Wathens Crossing Owensboro, KY 42301.
