Clarence M. Cole, 86, of Owensboro died December 22, 2001 at Hermitage Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The Ohio County native retired as head of the Purchasing Department of the then Central Bank and Trust Company. A member of Seven Hills Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and was active in the senior adult program. Mr. Cole was a member of the Henry Wilson Discussion Group at the Public Library and the Yellow Banks Chapter of A.A.R.P. A former member of the Owensboro Police Department, Mr. Cole was the first dispatcher when radio communications were introduced to the department in 1940.
He was preceeded in death by his first wife, Eva Jean Cole, in 1971, and by his daughter, Lois Ann White, in 1977.
Survivors include his wife, Alfred A. ''Freda'' Whobrey Cole, two sons, Charles Cole of Knoxville, TN and Kenny Cole of Owensboro, a step-daughter, Linda Whobrey Noffsinger of Kennesaw, GA, five grandchhildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Glenn Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Robert Noffsinger. Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
