Clara Pearl Badger Spencer

Clara Pearl Badger Spencer, 98, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008 at Miller's Merry Manor in Rockport, IN. She was born April 3, 1910 to the late Preston and Mamie Wilson Badger in Derby, IN. She was a member of St. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church, a hairdresser by profession and operated her own beauty salon until her retirement in 1980. She was a devoted mother and was especially happy when she was with her family. She was a caring person who took pleasure in helping others. After her retirement, she was a resident of the Roosevelt House in Owensboro for twenty-seven years. In 2007 failing health required her to move to Miller's Merry Manor in Rockport, IN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Spencer in 1958, her sister, Ida Gaither, her brothers, Herman and Floyd Badger.

Survivors include her daughter, Laurna Partridge of Richland, IN, her sons, Robert Spencer and his wife, Sue of Louisville, KY, and John Spencer, II and his wife, Doris of Denver, CO; six grandchildren, Mike, Mark and Lynn Partridge, Stacia, Gregory and Nancy Spencer; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; four sisters, Ola Cassidy of Hatfield, IN, Alma York of Magnet, IN, Irene Miller and Zelda Hundley, both of Owensboro, one brother, L.A. Badger of Hatfield, IN; a close friend and companion, Alma Montgomery of Owensboro.

Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in St. Bernards Catholic Cemetery in Rockport, IN. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday, with prayers at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Friends may call after 8:30 AM Monday at the funeral home.
