Clara B. Horn Hawes

Clara B. Horn Hawes, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Heartford House. She was born on April 27, 1928 in Daviess Co., KY to the late Lindsey Hammond and Mollie Bell Horn. She was retired from the Daviess Co. Court Clerk's Office after 37 years as a deputy clerk. Clara was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church her whole life and had taught Children's Sunday School for 40 years and also had played the piano and organ. She was very proud of her family and loved spending time with them and enjoyed traveling. She was also preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Lindsey H. and Mary Helen Horn, Jr.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Carl W. Hawes, two sons, David W. Hawes and wife Jeffie of Owensboro and Carl Daniel Hawes and wife Faye of Greensburg, six grandchildren, Jacob (Susan) Wallace of Lakeside Park, KY, Joshua (Leigh Ann) Wallace of Owensboro, Matthew (Lindsay) Hawes of Owensboro, Jonathan (Brittany) Hawes of Greensburg, Laura (Matt) Castlen of Owensboro, and Mary (Aaron) Newcome of Campbellsville, 10 great grandchildren, Claire, Abram, Campbell, Morgan, Carson, Lauren, Lainey, Celia, Eliza, and Elijah.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 17, at Yellow Creek Baptist Church with burial following in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 9:00 A.M. Saturday at Yellow Creek Baptist Church.
