Clara Barbour Eaton

Clara Barbour Eaton, 83, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014. She was born on October 24, 1930 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio to the late George and Lena Barbour. In 1952 she received her bachelor's degree in library science from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. Many of you knew Clara as the librarian of the Children's Department at the Owensboro Public Library until she retired in 1995. An avid reader herself, she instilled that love of reading in her two sons, Jeff and Gary, and served as member and president of the Married Ladies Reading Club for many years. Clara was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Dogs, letter-writing, shopping, and the Cleveland Indians baseball team were among her passions. She was also preceded in death by her brother, George Barbour, Jr., and her younger son, Gary (Laura) Eaton.

Clara is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Claudia) Eaton, as well as six grandchildren: Jacqueline (Ricky) Teachey, Christopher (Rebecca) Eaton, Valerie (Anthony) Seminaro, Logan Eaton, Robert Eaton, and Catherine Eaton; as well as three great grandchildren.

Services will be at 9:45 A.M. Saturday February 8, at Trinity Episcopal Church. Private graveside services will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green. Visitation will be begin at 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the church
