Clara Mae Payne Barnett, 82 of 727 Stone Street, Owensboro, died Sunday, December 14, 2003 at her home. A native of Daviess County, Mrs. Payne was a homemaker, and of the Roman Catholic faith. She enjoyed soap operas,and flowers and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Owen Billy Payne, a son, Kenny Payne, a daughtet, Wanda Payne, and two brothers ,James Lawson Husk, and Melvin Husk, and a step-daughter, Ruth Barnett and a grandson, Eric Mills.
She is survived by her second husband, Willis Harold Barnett, of Owensboro, sons Charles Owen Tutor Payne of Whitesville, James Russell Payne of Knottsville, William Randall Payne of Reynolds Station, William Daley Payne of Whitesville, Michael Ray Payne of Knottsville , Joseph Paul Payne of Reynolds Station, daughters, Opal Payne Chandler of Owensboro, Linda R. Love of Rumsey, Beverly Mauzy of Owensboro, Mary Alleen Mills of Whitesville, Betty L. Sumner of Owensboro, and two brothers, Hubert E. Husk of Maceo, and Gilbert F. Husk of Owensboro, 29 grandchildren, 35 great- grandchildren, step sons, Bill Barnett of Owensboro, Clyde Barnett of NewAlbany, Indiana, step-daughters, Carolyn Hallem of Owensboro, Maria Embry of Brooklyn, Kentucky, Ruby Didion of Sun City, Arizona, Betty Berkley of Gastonia , North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at St. William Catholic Church in Knottsville, at 1:30 p.m. with burial in St. William Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home, from 12 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will be after 9 a.m.Wednesday . Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
