Clara Zelma Ashley

Clara Zelma Ashley, 95, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024 at Signature Healthcare Hillcrest. She was born in Ohio County, Kentucky to the late Charlie and Evelina Girvin Daniel. 

In her early years Mrs. Ashley was employed at General Electric. She left there to focus on the children and later went to nursing school. Clara began her career as an LPN at Lady of Mercy Hospital, continued at Daviess County Hospital and spent many years working in Dr. Green’s office. Mrs. Ashley was a longtime member of Masonville Baptist Church. She enjoyed garage sales, shopping for antiques, fishing and U.K. Basketball. She will be dearly missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bobby Gene Ashley in 2001 and brothers, Robert and Bill Daniel. 

Mrs. Ashley is survived by sons, Charles Robert Ashley (Patty) of Oak Ridge, TN and James Byron Ashley (Donna) of Owensboro; grandchildren, Chloe, Seth, Stephanie, Dalton, Steven and Karen; great-grandchildren, Michael, Danielle, Jameson, Sophia, Alyona and Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, March 19 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Entombment will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
