Christine Heady Brooks

Christine Heady Brooks, 94, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born June 30, 1921 in West Louisville, KY to the late Dominic and Ethelreda Riney Heady. She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith. She had worked at the former Ken-Rad Co. and General Electric Co. at one time. Christine was a graduate of the former Mount St. Joseph High School, and enjoyed swing dancing, playing cards, bowling, and cooking for family and friends. She had been a 4-H leader, a Brownies and Girl Scout leader, and had volunteered as a "Gray Lady" at the former Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell B. Brooks, Sr. in 2002, brothers, Don, Raymond, and Dennis Heady, a son-in-law, Richard Smith in 2004, and a brother-in-law, Jim Clark.

She is survived by her sons, George Dennis Brooks and wife Lisa of Owensboro and Russell Brooks, Jr. and wife Connie of Owensboro, daughters, Mary Lou Brooks Saye and husband Earle of Atlanta, GA and Susan Brooks Smith of Owensboro, six grandchildren, Madison Brooks (Jon) Kabel, Lauren Brooks, Russell Brooks III, Ronnie (Melanie) Brooks, Christopher (Chasidy) Brooks, and Nikki Smith, six great grandchildren, two sisters, Martha Clark of Owensboro and Mary Hahn and husband Jim of Cape Girardeau, MO, and two sisters-in-law, Mattie Heady of Fresno, CA and Cheryl Heady of Bonsall, CA.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 19, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
