Christie Dawn McMahan's life was a testament to love, selflessness, and dedication. Born in Owensboro, KY on June 20, 1969, she was embraced as a caring mother, MiMi, wife, aunt, along with a host of other roles of love. Her work as a school nurse assistant at Audubon Elementary School showcased her nurturing personality, always putting the well-being of others above her own. Christie passed away June 15, 2024, in Owensboro. She was ushered into Heaven by Jesus, a host of angels, along with her father, Vincent Millay; mother, Doris Ann Basham Millay; sister, Sherry Ann Millay Hurst; grandparents, Robert and Margaret Millay and Steven and Frances Basham; uncle, Timothy Millay; aunt, DiAnn Millay and cousins, Austin Millay and Corey Millay. Christie's family held a special place in her heart. She willingly took on the role of caregiver for her father during his illness and was “her sister’s keeper.” While caring of her father, Christie was known to keep a detailed record of everything, including down to the minutes it took to travel to wherever she was taking him.
A pillar of support for others, even in the midst of her own battles, Christie’s joy knew no bounds when she spent time with her grandchildren, cherishing every moment of their growth and happiness. A true family manager, Christie balanced family life as “Chaos Coordinator” and filled every moment with fun and love. She found immense joy in watching kids play ball, a simple pleasure that brought her great happiness. Always putting her loved ones first, Christie epitomized the meaning of unconditional love and support.
Christie is survived by her children, Chace (Emily) Clements, Ethan (Whitney Cox) Clements, Cortney Hurst and Bailey Hurst; grandchildren, Tinslee, Lillian, Odin, Trevor, and soon to be born, Staley; sister, Penny Howard; husband, Shannon McMahan; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. In honor of Christie's life and the impact she had on all who knew her, A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday and after 8:00 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
As we reflect on the memories shared and the love she gave so freely, let us carry Christie's spirit of selflessness and devotion forward in our own lives.
