Charlie Dale Pettit

Charlie Dale Pettit, 90, of Utica died peacefully in her sleep at her home on May 13, 2008. She was born on November 9, 1917 in Daviess County to the late Edward and Frances DeLacey Howard. She was a member of Utica Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and retired from the Daviess County School System, having taught at the Snyder and Utica schools.

She was a loving caregiver to her husband of 54 years, Robert Gayle Pettit, Jr., who passed away in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her brother and his wife, Edward and Mary Evelyn Howard; a brother-in-law, Charles Loyal; and a nephew, Bill Loyal.

Survivors include her two sons and their wives, Bob and Deanna Pettit of Jacksonville, FL and David and Betty Jane Pettit of Utica; and her two sisters, Bettie Loyal of Utica and Joan (Randall) Hedges of Sebree.

Charlie Dale is also survived by her grandchildren Rob (Rene') Pettit of Round Hill, VA, Dave (Lauren) Pettit of Buffalo, NY, Molly Pettit of Jacksonville, Fl, John (Mary) Pettit of Murray, Annie-Laurie (Adrian) Yeiser of Louisville, and Susan (Bart) Miller of Liverpool, England.

Her great-grandchildren are Aedan, Rylan, and Nolan Pettit of Round Hill; Leif Yeiser of Louisville, Mason Pettit of Buffalo and Kieran Miller of Liverpool. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and cousins who were very dear to her.

Services, officiated by Rev. Howard Matthews, will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Utica Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Utica Baptist Church or Metro Kids Konnection, PO Box 60754, Jacksonville, FL 32236-0754.
