Charles Lee West

Charles Lee West, 84, of Owensboro, died December 3, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born January 29, 1929 in Wheeling, W.VA.to the late Charles John and Ella Hickman West. Charles was a proud Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from American Electric Power. Charles was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church, a lifetime member of VFW post 696 and the American Legion in Owensboro and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a loving and caring person, always ready to help others and "the best husband that ever lived". Charles also was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane.

Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Billie Jean West of Owensboro; children, Sharon (Tom) Lafferty of Chesapeake, VA., Carilyn (Ralph) Stoneking of New Martinsville, W.VA., Marilyn (Rick) Clark of Poca, W.VA., JoAnne (Mark) Johnson of Frankfort, John (Theresa) Peay of Owensboro and Jack Peay of Cincinnati, OH; 8 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Richard West of Wheeling, W.VA and sister Linda (Kenny) Craig both of W.VA; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 AM Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Glenn Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Jerry Carter presiding. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Friday, December 6, 2013 and after 9 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
