Charles Stewart Wayne, 84, of Owensboro, died Sunday, May 5, 2013 at home, surrounded by his family. Charles was a native of Daviess County born to the late Charles Robert and Mary Ada (Stallings) Wayne. He was a carpenter for Advance Aluminum, and of the Roman Catholic faith. He loved gardening and flowers, playing guitar, building bird houses, and recently was trying his hand as a beekeeper.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ruby Wayne, a son Ronald Eugene Wayne, and a sister, Martha Gamboa.
Surviving are his children, Charles David (Donna) Wayne of Owensboro, Frank Dean Wayne of Riva, MD, James Michael Wayne of Owensboro, Joseph S. (Theresa Steindel) Wayne of Louisville, Barbara Jean Ervin and Donna K. Stinnett of Owensboro, Patricia Ann Thompson of Calhoun, 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Angela (J.T.) O'Bryan of West Louisville, Rose (Jack) King, Frances Feldpausch, of Owensboro, Robert (Judy) Wayne of Tennessee, Joseph A. (Beverly) Wayne, Linda Beam and James (Sherell)Wayne of Owensboro.
There will be visitation from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with the rosary being recited at 5 p.m. A memorial mass will be scheduled in the future. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky, Memorial Fund and online condolences may be left at ww.glennfuneralhome.com.
