Charles A. Ward

Charles A. "Tony" Ward, 64, of Philpot, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Owensboro to the late James Ira and Mary Beatrice (Peak) Ward.

He was a 1967 graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School and served in the U. S. Air Force Reserve.

Charlie was a farmer and had been the Manager at Daviess County Tobacco Warehouse where he was employed for more than twenty years. He had also worked for Owensboro Concrete and W.R. Grace.

Charlie was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and Knights of Columbus (4th Degree and Financial Secretary of Whitesville Council). He had also served as President of Owensboro Regional Farmer's Market. He loved farming, feeding the needy, basketball and football.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Martin Ward.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon Gail (Wimsatt) Ward; a daughter, Carol Annette Ward (Will Crask) of Owensboro; two sons, Timothy Charles Ward (Jinniffer) of Philpot and Jeffery Martin Ward (Maranda) of Whitesville; grandchildren, Stephen, Sabrina, Maxwell, Mitchell, Trevor, Lucas, and Cameron; sisters and brothers, Kathleen Wedding, Harold Ward, James "Haymen" Ward, Wilsie Ward, Robert Ward, Elizabeth Hamilton, Barbara Jones, Rita Ward and Joseph Ward; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 9 at St. Stephen Cathedral. Fr. John Vaughan will officiate. Entombment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-8 PM (with prayers at 6PM) and on Wednesday after 9 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
