Charles Wayne Tarrant, 84, of Ky Highway 142, Philpot, died Saturday, November 27, 2010 at his home. He was born in Salene County, Illinois to the late Floyd and Zelpha (Bryan) Tarrant. Charles was a veteran of the Navy and served during WWII. He and his wife, Murlene met while working at Republic Avation in Evansville, Indiana where P-47 bombers were built. He retired from Central Plate Glass in Evansville, and had previously worked for Kentucky Mirror and Plate Glass in Owensboro, as well as being a part owner in Tarrant Glass Company. He enjoyed remote control model airplanes, was an avid golfer and watched pro basketball. Charles was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Today's Bible Sunday School Class, and IUPAT Local 1165 Glassworker's Union.
A son, Michael Wayne Tarrant preceded him in death 1968.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Murlene Adams Tarrant, a daughter, Onda (John) Strobel of Philpot, and grandchildren, Shane Strobel and Stacy (Jeff) Schoen of Louisville, great-grandchildren, Trent Strobel of Hendersonville, TN, and Evie and Dean Shoen of Louisville, and one brother, Frank Blackman of Norris City, IL.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Mark Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Wednesday. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
