Charles Sowders

Charles Russell Sowders, 86, of Owensboro, passed away February 27, 2016. Born June 7, 1929 to the late Thomas and Ebbie Sowders, Charles enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a patron of the VFW for 64 years where you could find him and his wife every Friday evening dancing. Charles worked hard through his life as a contractor for 60 years and enjoyed fast cars and wrestling. He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Betty J. Sowders.

Surviving Charles is his wife, Wanda Sowders; children, Thomas Sowders and his wife, Kim, Sheila Lindergren, Charles Sowders Jr. and his wife Cathy, and Mike Sowders; stepchildren, Debbie Daniel and her husband, Thurman, Peggy Hagan and her husband, Steve, Nancy Cox and her husband, Joshua, Steve Beard and his wife, Gayle, Robert Beard and his wife, Saundra, and Rick Beard and his wife, Karen; grandchildren, Janie Payne, Shane Lindergren, Kristy Lee, Hank Sowders, Jennifer Gellespie, Angie Fransden, Rivers Sowders, Storm Sowders, Reign Sowders, Tyler Sowders; eleven great-grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren; and brother, Paul Sowders and his wife Doris.

Services are noon Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be held 3:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
