Charles E. "Eddie" Smith, 74, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on December 3, 1936 in Daviess Co., KY to the late William Charles and Edith Underhill Smith. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Shane Akers on February 27, 2001. He was employed at Ideal Pure Milk Co. as a route salesman for many years and then also worked at Dolly Madison Cakes and was a security guard at Kimberly-Clark Co. before retiring. He was a member of Hall Street Baptist Church and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Eddie was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed camping, target shooting, watching Nascar, and playing with his cat Sassy.

Surviving are his wife Mary Nancy Smith, four daughters, Sharon Payne and husband Jim of Owensboro, Debbie Wade and husband Allen of Philpot, Leisha Akers and husband Steve of Owensboro, and Nancy Hertzler and husband Mitch of Utica, three stepchildren, Sandra McGlothlin and husband Ricky of Owensboro, John Reynolds and wife Darlene of Bowling Green, and Peggy Manuel and husband Mike of Elizabethtown, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren, and three step great grandchildren.

Services will be 12 Noon Wednesday, May 4 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
