Charles Edward “Charlie” Rhoades Sr., 79, of Philpot, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at his home. He was born May 22, 1944, to the late Dan and Katherine Lorene (Harris) Rhoades. Charlie was a farmer and agriculture salesman. He liked to stay busy and was always building something. Charlie’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing pool, going to auctions to collect antiques, and spending time with his grand babies. He worked his whole life to provide for his family and always had a joke to tell.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his son, Charles “Eddie” Rhoades II.; a sister, Carolyn Boone; three brothers, Hugh Rhoades, Bill Rhoades, and Don Rhoades; and a grandchild, Lil David Wallace.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Ann “Penny” (Rickard) Rhoades; daughters, Crystal Rhoades and Angela Jones (Victor); sisters, Nita Brock (Julian), and JoAnn Holland; brother, Robert Rhoades (Mildred); grandchildren, Preston Wallace (Halie), April Hagan, David Cole (Odessa), Christian Jones (Caitlan), Katherine Irwin (Trace), Brendan Rhoades, and Ashton Rhoades; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The service for Charlie will be 2 PM Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
