Charles V. Pinkston, Sr., 58, of Owensboro, died Thursday, June 11, 2015 in the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born in Owensboro to the late Charles W. Pinkston and Jessie Mae Watson.
Charles retired from Yager Materials after more than twenty years of service.
As a young man he was an avid boxer. Charles started a three generation family tradition that has evolved into MMA fighting and resulted in many title belts. He was a talented singer who sang a variety of styles and appeared at Goldie's Opera House. Charles also had a passion for hunting, fishing and camping and was a member of the NRA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sallie Bartlett; half siblings, Carl Basinger and Debbie Pinkston.
Charles is survived by daughters, Rava Rico (Jesus) and Emerald Fentress, both of Owensboro; a son, Charles "Rocky" Pinkston, Jr. (Melanie) of Owensboro; 12 grandchildren, Timothy David Pinkston, Alena, Janet and Selena Perez, Carmella and Jesus Rico, Diamond Fentress, Asia and Lorelei Pinkston, Austin, Samantha and Alexander Jones; sisters, Joann Loyd (Richard) and Rita Rice (Roger), both of Owensboro; a brother, Orville "Skeeter" of Owensboro; a companion, Kimberly Hamilton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A private memorial service will be held in the woods.
