Charles S. "Charlie" Parish, 89, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 1, 2016 at his home. He was born September 4, 1927 in Hanson to the late Monte and Ann Wilson Parish. Charlie was the Co-Owner of the former Dunville-Parish Chrysler-Plymouth Dealership in Owensboro until 1978. He later worked at B. F. Evans in Livermore for about 17 years. He was a member of Century Christian Church. He graduated from Madisonville High School where he played football and basketball and then attended the University of Kentucky from 1947 until 1948. At one time, he owned a shoe store in Madisonville. Charlie was an avid golfer at Windridge Country Club where he was a charter member. In his earlier years, he enjoyed pool and bowling. Also preceding him in death was his wife of 63 years, Yvonne Parish, in March of 2012, a brother and his wife, Ed and Sue Parish, a granddaughter, Jennifer Brown in 1976, a great grandson, Logan Adams in 2015, and a niece, Nancy Hina.
Surviving are his children, daughters Pam Logsdon and husband Don, Carla Brown and husband Donnie, Lisa Parish (who was his caregiver for the last five years), and son Charles S. "Chip" Parish and wife Mae, all of Owensboro, grandchildren, Janette Wink (Mike), Stacy Poole (Carl), Heath Logsdon (Alicia), Chris Walker, Rachel Bennett (Jeremy), David Walker, and Matthew Parish, nine great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Graham of Madisonville, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Noon Tuesday, December 6, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and after 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
