Charles Walton Osborne, 80, of 1405 E. 4th. St., Owensboro, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2005, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Thomas C. & Pauletta Hamilton Osborne. He was a member of Sts. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church and was a Navy veteran of World War II where he was a Motor Machinist Mate and served on the U.S.S. Dorchester. He was the founder and owner of the former Star TV, the former Davco Liquor Store in Stanley, and the former Leisure Cruise Marina in Kuttawa, Ky. He ran the family farm at a very young age, he successfully raised a family of twelve. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, champion marksman, loved labrador retrievers, had a passion for reading, Mr. Osborne said I traveled all over the world in my books. He also invested in the stock market. He was a director and former president (2004) of the Owensboro Rifle & Pistol Club, and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by a son, Ted Osborne on July 16, 1978, and two sisters, Delphine Osborne and Catherine Bosley.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Theresa Norris Osborne, three daughters, Shirley (Ernie) Taliaferro, Patricia Murphy, and Caroline (Kenneth) Clark, all of Owensboro, six sons, Ronald Osborne and Alan Osborne, both of Owensboro, Tony Osborne and Eric Osborne, both of Nashville, Tn., Michael (Jane) Osborne of Raleigh, N. C., and Kenneth (Jan) Osborne of Lexington, Ky., 20 grandchildren, Matthew Taliaferro, Kara Baughman, Ryan Taliaferro, Allison, Jordan, & Katlyn Taliaferro, Michael, Katherine, Jessica Osborne, Amanda Hancock, Lori Erozan, Ben Murphy, Josh Murphy, Ashley Murphy, Austin, Jacob, & Wesley Osborne, Cassidy, Aubrey, & Nick Clark, and four great grandchildren, one sister, Lucille Tong of Owensboro, and five brothers, George (Patty) Osborne of Owensboro, James Buddy Osborne of Loogootee, In., Thomas (Jean) Osborne of Santa Ana, Ca., Albert (Mary) Osborne of Escondido, Ca., and David Osborne of Sevierville, Tn.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 2, at Sts. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday with prayers at 7:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home.
