Charles Nonweiler, 83, of Owensboro, Kentucky, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at Owensboro Place. He was born in Boonville, IN to the late Edwin and Kathleen Bates Nonweiler and graduated from Boonville High School where he lettered in four sports. He was the owner of Charlie's Key Market for 27 years, a Shriner, and a Mason with Masonic Lodge # 729 in Ensor. He was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church for over 50 years and spent many of those years cooking dinner for the Wednesday night service. Active with the Boy Scouts Troop 98 in Thurston, he also was the soloist for the One Park Place choir. He was also preceded in death by his son Charles Brent Nonweiler in 2002 and his brother Donald Nonweiler in 2010.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn Nonweiler; children, Mark Nonweiler and his wife Debra of Philpot and Teri Gumbel and her husband Fred of Frisco, TX; grandchildren, Michelle Brenner (Alex) of Versailles, Shaun Nonweiler (Amy) of Owensboro, Matt Gumbel of Dallas, TX, and Kaitlin Nonweiler of Philpot; and great-grandchildren, Alexander Brenner, Mackenzie Brenner and Ella Nonweiler.
Service will be Noon Saturday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and after 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
