Charles H. Noble

Rev. Charles H. Chuck Noble, Jr., 89, of Yulee, Florida, died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Baptist Medical Center-Nassau in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Born in Fresno, CA, a son of the late Charles, Sr. and Gladys Mary Bodette Noble, he attended Sacramento (CA) Junior College, the University of California, and Asbury College where he received his Bachelor of Arts. He was ordained a minister in the Methodist Church in the Florida Conference in 1965 and was a certified United Methodist Minister of Music. Rev. Noble was an evangelistic music director from 1949 until 1954, traveling the United States with the Ford Philpot Evangelistic Association. With his wife Pat, an accomplished organist, Rev. Noble served as minister of music for the Tenth Street United Methodist Church in Atlanta, St. Mark United Methodist Church in Pensacola, FL, First United Methodist Church in Sebring, FL, Christ United Methodist Church in Memphis, and Settle Memorial United Methodist Church in Owensboro, from which he retired in 1987. He served eight years as Chairman of the Board of Diaconal Ministers with the former Louisville Conference of the United Methodist Church and was a member of the Florida and National Fellowship of Methodist Musicians. A former member of the Owensboro Lions Club which he served as song leader, Rev. Noble had also been a member of the Sebring, FL Rotary Club. His son Thomas Noble also preceded him in death in 2000.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Patricia Ann Brown Noble; his son, Ron Noble and his wife Emmie of Yulee, FL; two grandsons, Michael K. Noble and Matthew H. Noble and his wife Laura, all of Jacksonville, FL; one step-grandson, Gaines J. Taylor and his wife Teri, of Branson, MO; three step-granddaughters, Telana Durden and her husband Chuck of Homosassa, FL, Della G. Taylor of Manor, TX, and Eron T. Paaso of St. Marys, GA; and four step-great grandchildren.

Services, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Glenn Sowards and the Rev. Todd Love, are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Building Fund of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.
