Charles W. "Bud" Naylor, 83, of Owensboro, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born March 10, 1926, to the late Otto and Flura Steen Naylor. He was a member of the Owensboro Christian Church, had taught Sunday School many years. He was an Army Veteran of WW II and a recipient of the Purple Heart metal. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and participated in the liberation of victims in the German Concentration Camps. He enjoyed camping, gardening and working in his yard, and being with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, June Naylor; his children, William F. O'Neil of Columbia, SC, Wayne Naylor and his wife, Frances of Owensboro, Carol Jackson and her husband, Alan of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Vicki, Shanna, Tami, Tracy, Joshua (Melissa), and Caleb (Kari); seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Steiner of Fairfield, IL, and a brother, Jim (Marlene) Naylor of Columbus, IN.
He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Ember Herrington.
Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, at the Owensboro Christian Church Chapel with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, with Military Honors presented by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at Glenn Funeral Home, and from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Illiana, 723 East 450 South, Washington, IN 47501.
