Charles David Murphy

Charles David Murphy, 51, of Louisville died Tuesday, May 9, 2005 after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born January 11, 1954 in Daviess County he is the son of Murray and Jean Mattingly Murphy. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Louisville and he previously coached softball in the catholic league. He was a 1972 graduate of Daviess County High School and a Charter Member of St. Joe Fire Department. David was a machinist by trade and was employed by Mohler Technologies as a salesman. He loved to hunt, fish, and he was a devoted husband and adoring father and grandad.

Surviving besides his parents are his wife, Lee Ann Higdon Murphy of Louisville; five children, Michelle and Danny Smith of Sarasota, Florida, Amy Boyd of Louisville, Nicole and Ralph Kays of Owensboro, and Meghan and Zachary Murphy both of Louisville; three grandchildren, Kaylee and Timothy Kays and Tristan Boyd; eight brothers, Jim and Janet Murphy, Paul and Mitzi Murphy, Bernard Leo Murphy, Rick and Gayle Murphy, Dennis and Sharon Murphy, Johnny and Marilou Murphy, Billy and Kathy Murphy and Gary and Angie Murphy all of Owensboro; three sisters, Martha and Marty Warren, Maggie and Scott Yeckering all of Owensboro and Jeanie Murphy of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; many nieces and nephews who held a deep love and respect for him, his mother-in-law, Virginia Higdon, and his brothers and sisters-in-law Tom and Donna Higdon and Steve and Susan Higdon all of Owensboro.

Funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Terry Bradshaw at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. with prayers at 7:00 p.m.at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation Thursday will be from 8:30 until 10:00 a.m. at Glenn Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
